What is Express Entry

Express Entry is an online operational system which IRCC uses to manage immigration applications from skilled applicants and workers. This online system manages 3 separate programs at the federal level consisting of:

Federal Skilled Worker Program

is primarily aimed at foreign nationals who posses foreign work experience.

Federal Skilled Trades Program

is primarily aimed at foreign nationals who are qualified in a skilled trade and have valid job offer OR certificate of qualification.

Canadian Experience Class

is primarily aimed at foreign nationals who have Canadian work experience for at least ONE year in the previous 3 years.

Determine your CRS Score

Foreign nationals are ranked in the Express Entry pool according to a CRS score. CRS refers to comprehensive ranking system which is a point-based system to prioritize you in the Express Entry pool. Click here to use the CRS tool to estimate your score.

Documents Required

No documents are required to be uploaded when making your profile under the express entry system. Information may been to be extractd from the following documents in order to complete your profile.

  • Passport
  • Language Test Results (IELTS or TEF)
  • Educational Credential Assessment Report
  • Provincial Nomination (If applicable)

If you get an ITA (Inviation to Apply), you will need additional documents including:

  • Medical Exam
  • Proof of funds
  • Birth Certificates (If you’ve dependents)
  • Use of representative form (If applicable)
  • Marriage Certificate

You may need to submit additional documents depending upon the document checklist you receive from IRCC.

Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Candidates with the highest scores are usually given an inviation to apply. You will have 60 days to submit your complete application.

Complete applications are usually processed within 6 months.
