What is the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway?
Alberta’s Accelerated Tech Pathway is active within the Alberta Express Entry Stream. It targets Express Entry candidates who meet Alberta’s current tech-pathway requirements. At the time of application and assessment, the candidate must have qualifying full-time Alberta employment under an employment contract or a bona fide qualifying job offer, the occupation must be on AAIP’s current eligible Accelerated Tech Pathway list, and the Alberta employer’s primary business activities must fall within AAIP’s eligible tech-industry NAICS codes.
Current status, reviewed September 19, 2026: Alberta continues to list the Accelerated Tech Pathway as an active Alberta Express Entry pathway and reports a 2026 nomination allocation for it. The earlier statement on this page that the pathway was historical was incorrect and has been removed.
This is an Alberta provincial nomination pathway tied to the federal Express Entry system. AAIP rules and draw parameters can change without notice, so confirm the current Alberta criteria before filing.
Who is eligible for the Accelerated Tech Pathway?

Important exclusions: part-time, casual or seasonal employees, independent contractors, temporary agency workers, and employees working outside Alberta are not eligible under the pathway even where the employer and occupation are otherwise eligible.

How does the 2026 application process work?
AAIP currently requires worker-stream candidates to submit a Worker Expression of Interest (WEOI) and receive an invitation before submitting a full AAIP application. Effective April 7, 2026, the WEOI fee is $135. The fee must be paid within 24 hours of WEOI submission, a submitted WEOI remains valid for 12 months, and selection is not guaranteed.
