Nova Scotia’s International Graduate Entrepreneur stream is invitation-only and is for recent graduates of Nova Scotia institutions who own and operate a Nova Scotia business. This page explains the conditions and how it differs from the regular Entrepreneur Stream, reviewed by a licensed RCIC.
Current status: Nova Scotia’s International Graduate Entrepreneur stream is retained but offered by invitation only, following the province’s stream consolidation in 2026. It is for recent graduates of Nova Scotia institutions who own and operate a Nova Scotia business, and meeting the criteria does not entitle you to an invitation or a nomination.

How MAK helpsThe Nova Scotia International Graduate Entrepreneur stream, part of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program, is for recent graduates of Nova Scotia universities or the Nova Scotia Community College who own and actively operate a business in Nova Scotia. It is offered by invitation only. You enter an expression-of-interest pool, and Nova Scotia selects candidates at its discretion. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not entitle you to an invitation, and an invitation does not guarantee a nomination. This stream is different from the regular Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream, which is for experienced owners and senior managers rather than recent graduates.
The province generally looks for graduation from a Nova Scotia university or the Nova Scotia Community College after at least two years of in-person, full-time study, at least one year of actively owning and managing your Nova Scotia business with at least one third ownership, and language ability at CLB 7 in all four abilities. Confirm the current details, because Nova Scotia consolidated its streams in 2026 and conditions can change.

This stream fits recent Nova Scotia graduates who stayed in the province, already own and run a genuine Nova Scotia business, and meet the language and ownership conditions.
It is not for graduates of institutions outside Nova Scotia, nor for experienced owners or senior managers who did not study in Nova Scotia, who should look at the regular Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream instead. It is also not a fit for passive owners.
You submit an expression of interest, and if invited you submit an application. Because you already own and operate the business, the focus is on confirming your eligibility and the genuine operation of the business. If approved, Nova Scotia can issue a nomination, which you then use to apply federally for permanent residence. The nomination is discretionary.
Because ownership and the genuine operation of your business are assessed, the strongest applications document your business operation, your role, and a legal source of any funds invested. Our work combines a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, Ontario, C83028834), so the financial and business evidence is prepared to the standard Nova Scotia evaluates.
Applications commonly run into trouble when the business is not genuinely operating, when ownership or the graduate’s role is unclear, or when the study, language, or residence conditions are not clearly met. Each of these requires full review.
MAK works with licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants and a CPA. We confirm whether you are competitive for the invitation pool, document your business operation and eligibility, and manage the filing.
