What is the Alberta Express Entry Stream?

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is an invitation-based AAIP worker stream for candidates with an active federal Express Entry profile who remain eligible for an Express Entry-managed federal program and have a minimum CRS score of 300.
Alberta uses the Worker Expression of Interest system and pathway- or draw-specific criteria when selecting candidates for current provincial priorities. alberta.ca states that this stream also operates dedicated pathways for health care professionals, technology workers and police occupations (Alberta Advantage Immigration Program page, read 9 September 2026); the older Accelerated Tech Pathway page is kept for reference only and is no longer listed by Alberta. Meeting the minimum requirements or submitting a Worker Expression of Interest does not guarantee an invitation.

What are the eligibility requirements for this program?

In order to be eligible for this program, you must meet the following requirements shown on the table below.
You must remain eligible for an Express Entry-managed federal program in order to be considered for this stream.

Active Profile (Express Entry) Yes with 300 CRS score minimum
Provincial connection Depends on the pathway or draw
Job Offer Depends on the pathway or draw
Language Skills Same as Express Entry Requirement
Work Experience Same as Express Entry Requirement
Education Same as Express Entry Requirement
Occupation Must not be an ineligible occupation

You must have a minimum CRS score of 300 and remain eligible for an Express Entry-managed federal program; alberta.ca confirms that 300 minimum on its Alberta Express Entry Stream eligibility page (read 7 September 2026). Selection also depends on the current pathway or draw criteria and Alberta’s priorities at the time of selection.

How can I apply for this program?

First, maintain an active federal Express Entry profile and remain eligible for at least one Express Entry-managed federal program. To be considered for an AAIP worker stream, submit a Worker Expression of Interest (WEOI) through the AAIP portal. The WEOI fee is CAD 135 and a submitted WEOI remains in the pool for 12 months. Alberta ranks WEOIs and may invite candidates to apply to a specific stream or pathway based on score, current priorities, nomination availability and application volumes. Submitting a WEOI does not guarantee an invitation. Confirm the current WEOI fee on alberta.ca before you pay it; the fee is not repeated on the Alberta Express Entry Stream eligibility page. What happens If my profile is selected by the provincial government?

If Alberta invites you to apply to the Alberta Express Entry Stream or a specific pathway, you must submit the AAIP application and supporting documents within the invitation requirements. If Alberta approves an enhanced nomination, the nomination is sent through your federal Express Entry account for acceptance. Once accepted, an enhanced nomination adds 600 CRS points. The additional points can materially improve your ranking, but they do not guarantee a federal Invitation to Apply or permanent residence approval.
