What is the BC PNP Tech Stream?
The BC PNP Tech stream was introduced in 2017 as a pilot for skilled workers with job offers in a set list of technology occupations. It no longer exists as a named route. WelcomeBC’s Skills Immigration page lists only two streams today, Skilled Worker and Health Authority, and does not mention technology anywhere (welcomebc.ca, Skills Immigration, last updated 28 May 2026, read 9 September 2026).
Tech workers now apply through the ordinary Skilled Worker stream and are invited through BC’s current categories: Innovate: High Economic Impact, Care: Childcare, Care: Health, Care: Education, Care: Veterinary Care, Build: Construction Trades, and a Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support Initiative (welcomebc.ca, Invitations to apply, last updated 2 September 2026, read 9 September 2026). In practice most technology candidates are competing in Innovate: High Economic Impact draws.
What is the eligibility criteria?
There is no separate tech application to make. You apply under the Skilled Worker stream, which needs a full-time, indeterminate (no end date) job offer in a NOC TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation, at least two years of full-time equivalent work experience, and Canadian Language Benchmark level 4 or better (welcomebc.ca, Skills Immigration, last updated 28 May 2026, read 9 September 2026). If you are already in the federal Express Entry pool you may be able to use the Express Entry BC option. The occupation codes listed below are the historical NOC 2011 four-digit codes from the old tech list. They are kept here for reference only. Canada now uses NOC 2021 five-digit TEER codes, and BC no longer publishes a tech occupation list, so do not treat this list as current eligibility. Last reviewed: September 2026.
