Nova Scotia Conducts PNP Draw Targeting Medical Professionals

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) was created in 2003 to alleviate labour shortages. NSNP and the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) nearly tripled Nova Scotia’s immigration rate. Nova Scotia, Canada’s “Mineral Province,” retains 70% of its over 7,000 new permanent residents. The province’s academic and employment options for ambitious immigrants account for the high retention rate.

Nova Scotia asked 278 nurses to apply provincially. They must produce employment reference letters to prove they have three years of experience. Invitees must have a 9 or higher Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score in English or French in all language skills. They also need a bachelor’s degree or three years of post-secondary education.

Apply before midnight on March 10. If accepted, Nova Scotia will nominate them. If selected in an Express Entry draw, they can apply for permanent residence as PNP candidates.

About Express Entry

Create an Express Entry profile to be invited to apply for Nova Scotia’s Labour Market Priorities Stream. Express Entry processes Canadian permanent residence applications through the FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. The Comprehensive Ranking System ranks Express Entry applicants. They receive points for age, work experience, education, and English/French language proficiency.

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) invited Express Entry candidates. Nova Scotia periodically accepts Express Entry applications from specified occupations under its Provincial Nominee Program. NSNP announced a new draw for nurses qualifying for Nova Scotia’s Labour Market Priorities Stream.

Candidates must be registered nurses or mental nurses to be nominated. NOC 3012 should guide their work. After receiving Letters of Interest from Nova Scotia, applicants have 60 days to apply for a provincial nomination. They will receive 600 CRS points if Nova Scotia nominates them. This award ensures they will earn an ITA in a future Express Entry draw.

MAK Immigration Consultants can play a pivotal role in assisting candidates, especially in professions like nursing, navigate the Nova Scotia Nominee Program, ensuring a smooth application process and increasing their chances of receiving a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
